Partners The successful establishment of ZELA has been supported by many partners and donor organizations whose input and partnership is warmly acknowledged. Throughout its fledgling life ZELA received support in the form of joint implementation of projects and small grants from: Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) and Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (E-LAW US) . In 2003 ZELA received its first major grant from the Ford Foundation, to enable it to kick start most of its programs under the overarching theme of environmental justice. Environment Africa (E-Africa) played a critical role in providing logistical support during ZELA’s formative stages and have continued their support through joint implementation of projects especially in the environmental education area. The World Resources Institute (WRI) has worked closely with ZELA in the field of environmental representation.
ZELA has also worked with various regional organizations on various projects.
These are Legal Resources Foundation (South Africa),
ILEG Uganda, Lawyers Environment Action Team
(LEAT), Tanzania, Greenwigs, Malawi to name but a few.
