Environmental Law Reform and Education Programme
Law is a very technical field. If communities are to be empowered to
demand their rights to a clean and healthy environment, they must first
understand the laws and policies which exist. This programme seeks to
educate communities about the various environmental laws, regulations,
by-laws and policies. The programme also seeks to ensure that these laws
and policies are constantly monitored for relevance, implementation and
enforcement. Where the laws are inadequate, ZELA in conjunction with the
communities will seek to engage the parliamentarians and policy makers
to ensure they are amended or reformed.
