ZELA filed a High Court Application against the Harare City Council in February 2008 to compel the municipality to furnish the organization with its waste management plan and other documents related to its disposal sites. The case is based on the principles of access to environmental information, public participation in decision making processes and access to environmental justice.

ZELA in partnership with the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) in Zambia and Centro Terra Viva (CTV) in Mozambique will conduct a series of community consultation meetings on the benefits of establishing community-public-private partnerships in transboundary natural resources management in the border Districts of Mbire (formerly Guruve North) in Zimbabwe, Zumbu in Mozambique and Luangwa in Zambia. Environmental Legislation Update
The year 2007 saw several laws being passed which have a bearing on the environment. Most of the laws came in the form of statutory instruments which were passed in the first half of the year. This paper traces these laws and discusses their utility. The paper has a bias towards laws which have impacted significantly on business organizations in Zimbabwe.
